Are we still blogging?
I vote yes. It’s been four (!) years since I’ve shared my work anywhere other than Instagram, but I’ve decided it’s time for that to change.
I’ve had multiple people ask me lately if I’m still taking photos and making videos for other families. The answer to that is YES!
Photo from a recent Year In the Life Session
90% of my time is spent taking care of my family and home. As we all know, full time parenting is demanding, fulfilling, overwhelming, overstimulating, never ending and yet flying by.
But in stolen hours here and there, I’m sill practicing my crafts of photography and filmmaking for my family and others.
It’s far more to me than a “side job”. It’s the way I find beauty and make art out of the daily-ness of life. It is a practice that allows me to slow down and uncover the hidden flecks of gold around me.
My current favorite offering is my Year In the Life packages. I visit a family at home or on an adventure (or at the grocery store, dance class, or anywhere else that is part of their daily life) four times a year. After each session, the family gets a gallery of photos and a 3-4 minute film. The best part comes at the end of the year, when they receive a photo album with all of the photos from the year, and a Year In the Life film with all of the mini films combined.
And, of course, I’m still offering single sessions as well. Photo journalist style family sessions with photos, video, or both, designed to capture the feeling of your home and family during this stage of life.
If my sixteen year old self could see the work I get to do- she’d be jumping for joy.
